The wind has been blowing steadily across Southwest Florida this past week, but the bite around Charlotte Harbor and Punta Gorda has remained strong for anglers willing to adapt.
Tarpon are beginning to make their way into the area, with early signs showing in both Boca Grande Pass and the Burnt Store area. While the numbers aren’t at peak just yet, the season is building momentum.
Spotted seatrout have been abundant, especially on live shrimp and twitch baits worked across the grass flats. For those targeting snook, there’s been solid action in the Two Pines area, where live threadfins under a cork fished tight to the bushes have produced. Snook are also holding along the oyster bars in Turtle Bay.
Meanwhile, small tarpon have been showing up around the U.S. 41 Bridge, and a few cobia have been caught cruising both the East Wall and West Wall.
Until next time, tight lines!
