Fishing out of Islamorada has been solid this past week, with a nice mix of offshore and inshore action for springtime anglers.
Blackfin tuna have been hitting well on some of the deeper wrecks offshore, while a few sailfish are still being caught along the reef line—a promising sign as the season continues.
On the bottom, we’re seeing good numbers of mutton snapper, especially around structure, and some great tarpon action is starting to build at the local bridges. While tarpon numbers aren’t quite peaking yet, a few are being landed on dead mullet fished on the bottom near the downtown Islamorada area.
The patch reefs are also producing, with solid bites from cero mackerel and yellowtail snapper, making for plenty of rod-bending fun close to home.
Until next time, tight lines!
